Weaving a bridge between the legacy of an ancient craft
and wearable art fit for the modern world.
"MEEMO" was a life-long Fibre Artist and my friend's grandmother.
I was the grateful recipient of some of her studio's contents.
My work aims to honour the gift and the passion of people like her
who generously shared with subsequent generations.

A little bit of history...
"How did it all start?"
"What is the meaning of the brand?"
Those are questions I am often asked…
To be honest, it all started rather simply. I had voiced my interest in the fibre arts to Ev, my sister in law, who is an accomplished weaver herself.
Many years ago while staying at the family "Camp" on the Eastern Shore, she took me on a day trip and sat me in front of a loom in her mentor, Suzanne MacLaughlan's studio. She gave me a few instructions, then departed to have tea with Suzie in the main house.
Periodic checks ensured I left with a tea towel... The plan worked, I was hooked!
I was determined to get my own loom and told everyone who cared to listen about my new obsession with weaving.
A work colleague happened to mention her grandmother had just moved to a care facility, leaving behind her beloved weaving studio. Soon after, I was the grateful custodian of table looms, bits n' bobs and heaps of wool.
Stephanie took me to visit her grandmother, affectionately named "Meemo", to thank her.
Her smile and the sparkle in her eyes told me just how pleased she was that her lifelong passion was now shared.
And so “The Meemo Project” began...
